as the nightingale sang to the harper’s odd song
back at the road where we traveled so long
birds flew by as the sun goes down and the night comes by
the bard, he sings requiem as a lullaby

life at the edge of the twilight’s haunting halls
as the fool escapes and the wise man falls
death be the price for too much curiosity
the jester laughs at the advisor’s stupidity

the king tries to recover the crown
as the queen stood still and frown
if the plate above his head should fall
how more can a kingdom crawl

i stood by the towers long forgotten by time
as spells and enchantments ring like chime
potions and curses whose ingredients rhyme
failed experiments smell like slime

the bard he sang of songs of old
the townspeople shoulder turned cold
they never heard the tales before
soon the dawn will rise and they’ll be no more
