for the dead stars and a night sky crime

have you ever thought of dead stars,
like wounds that turned into scars?

they shine brightly on a night’s sky,
like a memory that suddenly passes by.
their beauty encompasses the rainbows,
cheers ‘neath hidden sorrow

your eyes dangle with hammocks and fields of childlike wish.
like kites freely thrown by calloused hands as they fly and perish.

your heart yearns for tender flames,
steady and heats your soul to infinity,
consorting you even when apart,
never betraying your heart.

your lips speak no worlds but planets that collide and sink
they kiss crumbs of stardust, blow wishes to that brink
where daffodils and hyacinths grow alike, blooming
wild, young… against the sun, endlessly dancing.

shots of comets pass and fade into the twilight
stars twinkle with passion in your eyes
as darkness enveloped the night
the land is painted by dancing fireflies

we chase them, you with rolled pants, i with swaying skirt
we race with the evening breeze as if our toes never hurt
come hum the blues away, and if the rain falls
together we’ll bask the unknown as the calm calls

as the wind caressed our faces
like silky black and smooth laces
we laughed as the clouds rolled by
together we spread our wings and flew high

and in between dead stars we hid secrets
like scars, like our lives in beautiful snippets.

the stars and the moon became witnesses
that our only crime, is our happiness.
